“Books are something social – a writer speaking to a reader – so I think making the reading of a book the center of a social event, the meeting of a book club, is a brilliant idea.” Yann Martel – Author of, The Life of Pi.
I thought about Martel’s words after spending an evening this week with the members of the Adirondack Book Club. Readers should share their experiences and points of view about the books they read.
I had never spent an evening with a co-ed book club. It was an absolutely delightful experience listening to the club members share their thoughts on She Called Him Raymond, and graciously listening while I answered their questions and told many of the stories behind the story.
Thank you all for your hospitality and for reading Helen and Raymond’s story. This was an evening I will not forget.
