In my lifetime, I have never witnessed a Presidential race so lacking in intelligence and integrity. This is hardly the political culture that Raymond, Helen and the other victims and survivors of the Great Depression and World War II envisioned for America. We owe it to America’s Greatest Generation, those that sustained our country through its most challenging times, to do better. We have an obligation to our children, grandchildren and their descendants, to leave this world better than we found it.
Many will worry while waiting for someone to arrive on the political scene to provoke change. Perhaps a glance in the mirror will reveal those who need to instigate that change. “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; for indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
Agreed. How does a society effect change when there are so many with so little and so few with so much? When the people in positions of power only act out of self interest and seemingly lack any compassion for anyone or anything they can’t make use of to advance themselves.
Hi Chuck. Perhaps we place too much reliance on our political leaders, waiting on them to fix these problems. In many cases, improvements in society have come in spite of who is in office, not because of them.
This election has been an emotional debate tearing American’s apart. We live in a much different world than people have during the great depression and past wars. Our technology has advanced, but at the same time has the power to destroy us. I believe we all need to come together as Americans and resolve our differences. In the end we all want a better future for everyone.
Hi George. I believe we are in a period of social, economic and political volatility for which most of our nation’s political leaders are ill prepared to address.
