I have been fortunate to receive many messages and letters from readers, but a letter I recently received from Mrs. Joan Finn, served as a reminder as to why I wrote, She Called Him Raymond.
Similar to my mother Helen, Mrs. Finn fell in love and married a pilot during World War II. Coincidentally, her husband and Helen’s husband Raymond, were both assigned to Mitchell Field on Long Island for a time.
I met Mrs. Finn at a book club meeting and she commented that she wished she had purchased a physical copy of the book, rather than an e-book, so that she could have had it signed. The following week, I sent Mrs. Finn a copy of the book with a special message inscribed. In return, she sent this letter. It is a gift more precious and of far greater value than that which I gave her.
Thank you, Mrs. Finn.
